By the end of 2007 there were 25,570 registered foreign investment food enterprises and branches in China, including 11,637 food production enterprises, 5,406 food enterprises in circulating field, 8,527 catering enterprises.
Shanghai ranks the first in the whole nation and has the most foreign investment food enterprises: 1,586 food production enterprises, 1,247 food enterprises in circulating field, 1,600 catering enterprises.

The 10 target cities investigated were: Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Tianjin, Chengdu and Chongqing.

The map includes:

- The different retail formats used in China
- N° of retail groups in each target city and their total sales revenues
- N° and types of retailers within each retail group, their chosen formats and revenues.
